You have GOT to be kidding me. It's a sculpture.
Of a seashell.
Called a PELICAN'S FOOT.

Think before you type, genius. You just succeeded in making a magnificent dumbass of yourself.
In front of the whole world, no less. -.-

Thanks,

The best places to get the black stone (Champlain Black) is from Gawet in Center Rutland VT or from The Carving Studio in West Rutland, VT. If you are interested in Swanton Red, a red dolomite, it is virtually impossible to obtain. The operator of the Quarry is in jail now and I don't know who if anyone has any. Gawet might.

I can't remember exactly how long it took, but some where around 200 to 250 hours.

Beautiful... agreeing with the last comment, the first thing that struck me was the matte versus the polished--that's what really makes it for me (aside from the gorgeous carving).

Beautiful and elegantly carved; the use of polished vs matte stone is clever and works well! :D
